The Dark Side of the Light Chasers, Debbie Ford
What upsets us about others can be a clue to our own nature, and to the emotions and traits we fear most in ourselves. Debbie Ford helps us to understand and accept our weaknesses in order to tap into our hidden strengths. A wonderful and practical book, Debbie shows us how to reconcile our darker impulses, find the gifts they offer, and reclaim our wholeness once again.
Love is Letting Go of Fear, Gerald G. Jampolsky, M.D.
Through twelve simple yet powerful lessons you will be assisted to let go of the past and stay focused on the present, as you move toward the future. Dr. Jampolsky reminds us that the only obstacles to the life we yearn for, are the limitations imposed on us by our own minds. Read how you can reveal your true self, the essence of which is love, by releasing those limited and limiting thoughts.
Loving What Is: Four Questions that can Change Your Life, Byron Katie
"The Work is merely four questions; it's not even a thing. It has no motive, no strings. it's nothing without your answers. These four questions will join any program you've got and enhance it. Any religion you have, they'll enhance it. If you have no religion, they will bring you joy. And they'll burn up anything that isn't true for you. They'll burn through to the reality that has always been waiting".
The Work provides a fresh look at something most of us take for granted, the ordinary thoughts that run through our minds. The revelations that follow from The Work are often radical and life-changing, but unlike most guidance, this approach doesn't require any new beliefs or concepts. It is understood entirely through the experience of doing it.
Recovery of Your Inner Child, Lucia Capacchione, PhD.
"The Inner Child lives within all of us. It's the part of us that feels emotions and is playful, intuitive, and creative. Usually hidden under our grown-up personal, the Inner Child holds the key to intimacy in relationships, physical and emotional well-being, recovery from addiction, and the creativity and wisdom of our inner selves".
Let Dr. Capacchione guide you to discover your Inner Child. Through exercises, and deep insight you will get to understand your critical parent, and learn how to let your Inner Child out to discover and play.
This book was my biggest inspiration for going into the field of Counseling. It sets out practical steps to help the client become more present and alive. Gay and Kathlyn lay out simple techniques, that are at the same time profound in their results. They will teach you about body-centered therapy and the nine strategies, which include The Presencing Principle, The Breathing Principle, and The Magnification Principle. There are also plenty of examples from their personal practice, making this a MUST, and easy read.
Working on Yourself Doesn't Work, Ariel and Shya Kane
I love the title of this book, and the work of these two wonderful people aligns well with it. To truly heal, you simply have to be with whatever it is you are experiencing. Put in another way, they will help you accept yourself on a deeper level, and understand there is nothing to "fix".
"What makes this book unique is our basic premise that working on yourself doesn't work. All it takes to have your life transform is getting into and living from the moment - this current moment of NOW".
Healing into Life and Death, Stephen Levine
Stephen Levine shares his vision of healing acquired during years of working with those who came to him to die. They instead found his gifts for finishing life's business and opening the heart, sometimes capable of healing their bodies, and transforming their lives.
This book reads like a Zen Koan, and yet in a most practical and wonderful way. It will help guide you to a more peaceful place within yourself, and ultimately the world around you. And...it's really not about dying, but about living life to the fullest, moment by moment.
Learning to Love Yourself, Gay Hendricks, PhD.
A simple notion, a life's journey. Dr. Hendricks will teach you a simple technique you can use anytime and anyplace. It will help you do exactly this, love yourself. Enough said...=)
Homecoming: Reclaiming and Championing Your Inner Child, John Bradshaw
"Using a wealth of practical techniques, informative case histories, and unique questionnaires, John Bradshaw demonstrates how your wounded inner child may be causing you pain. You'll learn to gradually, safely, go back to reclaim and nurture that inner child, and literally help yourself grow up again".
"Three things are striking about inner child work. The speed with which people change as a result of the work; the depth of that change; and the power and creativity that result when the wounds from the past are healed".
The Seat of the Soul, Gary Zukav
"With lucidity and elegance, Zukav explains that we are evolving from a species that pursues power based upon the perceptions of the five senses- external power -into a species that pursues authentic power- power that is based upon the perceptions and values of the spirit. He shows how the pursuit of external power has produced our survival of the fittest understanding of evolution, generated conflict between lover, communities, and superpowers, and brought us to the edge of destruction".
"Using the scientist's eye and philosopher's heart, Zukav shows how infusing the activities of life with reverence, compassion, and trust makes them come alive with meaning and purpose. He illustrates how the emerging values of the spirit are changing marriages into spiritual partnerships, psychology into spiritual psychology, and transforming our everyday lives. The Seat of the Soul describes the remarkable journey to the spirit that each of us is on".
"This is the story of a shepherd boy named Santiago, who travels from his homeland in Spain to the Egyptian desert in search of a treasure buried in the Pyramids. No one knows what the treasure is, or if Santiago will be able to surmount the obstacles along the way. But what starts out as a journey to find worldly goods turns into a meditation on the treasures found within. Lush, evocative, and deeply humane, the story of Santiago is an eternal testament to the transforming power of our dreams and the importance of listening to our hearts".
Living, Loving, and Learning, Leo Buscalia
Leo Buscalia is a living example of his own teaching and wisdom. Throughout this book we get a glimpse of this beautiful man, his life, teachings, and the story of those who have shared in it.
"Living, Loving, and Learning is a delightful collection of Leo Buscalia's informative and amusing lectures, which were delivered worldwide between 1970 and 1981. This inspirational treasure is for all those eager to accept the challenge of life and to profit from the wonder of love".
The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle
"You are here to enable the divine purpose of the universe to unfold. That is how important you are"!
"In the Power of Now, author-sage, Eckhart Tolle uses words to guide readers beyond words. Pointing to the portals of the eternal present, this practical mystic's modern gospel offers transcendent truths that set us free".
The Invitation, Oriah Mountain Dreamer
"It doesn't interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing. It doesn't interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive..."
Thus starts the now well known Invitation taken from the original prose poem, presenting a powerful and inspirational challenge to all of us who long for true intimacy and joy.
The Four Agreements, don Miguel Ruiz
Be impeccable with your word. Don't take anything personally. Don't make assumptions. Always do your best.
"In The Four Agreements, don Miguel Ruiz reveals the source of self-limiting beliefs that rob us of joy and create needless suffering. Based on Toltec wisdom, The Four Agreements offer a powerful code of conduct that can rapidly transform our lives to a new experience of freedom, true happiness, and love".
The Path of Transformation: How Healing Ourselves can Change the World, Shakti Gawain
